Earlier this year our club collaborated with the Tonga Rotary Club Nuku Alofa to provide an urgently needed water tank for a school in Village Houma located on the island of Eura in the Kingdom of Tonga. This project came about at the request of Lonita Benson, a graduate of our local Webster Groves High School, serving in the Peace Corp in Village of Houma.

The primary school in this village lacked access to clean water for the students. Often, school terminated after lunch due to no running water. There were two water tanks on the school compound but only one one was suitable for drinking water.

Our club contributed $2,600 to purchase a 12,000 gallon water tank for the school. This new tank collects rain water to supply water for the school children.

More photos of this project are available in the slide show link "Tonga Water Project" in the lower left column of this website.
