Webster Groves Rotary was organized in 1924, when seventeen members gathered for Charter Night in February. In March, Rotary International admitted the club as Club 1670—the first Rotary club in St. Louis County.
Early years
The first members represented the local institutions and businesses that kept Webster Groves moving: banks, schools, local shops, utilities, trades, and professional offices. From the beginning, the club used its resources to support students and local organizations, while joining Rotary service beyond the community.
Purpose renewed through changing times
The club’s history records a renewed emphasis on its Rotary Foundation work in 1947, along with support for new clubs and service partnerships. Over time, members have found practical ways to serve—from student support and community projects to international connections and the Alan Hoener Memorial Garden.
The club’s public website began in 2007. Today this website shares public club stories and opportunities, while the ClubRunner member site remains the place for private member information.
