ShelterBox began in 2000 as the idea of one Rotary club and grew into an international disaster-response organization. In 2012, it became Rotary International’s first official Project Partner.

After disasters, families may need more than a tent. ShelterBox adapts its response to the place and situation, providing combinations of emergency shelter, tools, lighting, cooking equipment, and other essentials that help families regain privacy and stability.
Rotary’s worldwide network can contribute local relationships and practical knowledge about roads, communities, and changing conditions. This article describes the Rotary-wide partnership; it does not claim a specific Webster Groves deployment. It is included because it shows how a project that began with one club can grow through shared service.
